Clifford Michael Obuh, popularly
called Faya, has released a video titled No Weapon from his new and classic album,
Apple of Jehovah’s Eyes.
Clifford Michael Obuh B.SC (Animal Science),
M.SC, a husband and a father of two hails from Agbor in Delta State of Nigeria.
This sensational, God-fearing
reggae artiste, Stage Named F.A.Y.A., an acronym from For All Yee Africans,
whose rich husky voice reminds everyone who hears it of Jamaica's international
Buju Banton, started his music career while still an undergraduate of the
University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
Faya's talent as he has come to
be known and called was actually spotted at the Benson & Hedges "Grab
The Mic" context (1999) which also featured the Nigerian music star, Sound
Sultan.
At the Award for Musical
Excellence (AMEN) in Nigeria (2002), Faya received his first award as the best
upcoming artiste following the release of his debut single "Blessed".
"Galala" another hit song from the same album took over the airwaves
making it to number 1 of the Ray Power top 10 radio chart program and other
radio chart programs across the country.
He has performed in many shows
and concerts within and outside Nigeria. Infact story has it that the stage is
Faya's next most comfortable place after his bed. Promoters and Audience at the
Star Trec "win your dream" promo tour at Enugu State, Nigeria (2006)
would agree with this because though he was not meant to be the Star Artiste,
he thrilled the audience so much that he had to be re-called to finish the
tour.
While on stage with Shaggy (the
visiting internationally respected reggae artiste) at the "Motherland
Beckons" show at the La Campaine Beach Resort, Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria
on March 2008, Shaggy confessed he was almost intimidated by Faya's presence
and he almost stole the show away from him as reported by bthe media. Sean Kingston,
another visiting international artiste at a concert organized at the Ocean View
Victoria Island, Lagos State, Nigeria (November 2008) had a similar testimony
of Faya's magnificent stage performance.
These testimonies are no surprise
considering mentors and inspiration. They are Buju Banton (his biggest
inspiration), Cocoa Tee, and of course the Father of them all, the legend Bob
Marley.
FAYA has many songs to his
credit which includes:
1. Blessed
2. Galala
3. What a life;
4. Apple of Jah eyes;
5. Pepper must rest;
6. Emmanuel;
7. Tribute to mama;
8. One love;
to mention but a few.
Faya released an album titled
Apple of Jehovah’s Eyes early last year and is currently working on his
forth-coming album, "ROAD TO ZION" and promises his numerous fans a
delight in 2012.
