Jamaican Gospel Reggae/Dancehall Artist Cum Sunday School Teacher, Dwayne Damion Campbell aka D' Psalmist, in an interview with El Levite, said he could have been killed many times but for the grace and mercy of God that brought him through.
El: Greetings D' Psalmist, I welcome you to El Levite blog, a Nigerian based blog where gospel music ministers across the world are celebrated.
D' Psalmist: Thank you it’s my pleasure.
El: Can we meet D'Psalmist?
D'Psalmist: I am D' Psalmist, born Dwayne Damion Campbell at the Spanish Town public hospital on August 1, 1990. Son of Ms Yvonne Mctavish and father Neville Campbell. I grew up in a very known garrison community in Spanish Town, St.Cathrine, Jamaica as a very respectable child, hard working, honest young man but the devil set in and had a plan for my life. Though, going to church every Sunday mornings with my grandmother, I suddenly had the intentions of following friends to do wrong things, ganja smoking, large amounts of alcoholic intake, sex you name it, lost focus and interest in school because of these lifestyles. Could have been killed many times but because of the grace and mercy of God that brought me through (Hallelujah!!!!)

I got saved when I was going to dance on a New Year eve of December, 2009. With lots of prayers and fasting from my family God came through.
I now preach the word of God with the gift that the Lord gave me.
El:How did it start with you? I mean musically?
D' Psalmist: It started when I first got saved as a music sound selector, couldn’t sing or DJ but still found myself in music, so my gift of this ministry is from the Lord.
El:Can you share with us your salvation story?
D' Psalmist: I was going to a Dancehall session one Christmas Eve night, when I stepped in a church and the Lord did what he does best. So then and there change came to my life.
El: You are gospel reggae and dancehall music minister, this genre and style of music is uncommon but is gradually gaining ground in the church. What are your views?
D' Psalmist: Most definitely, many persons in the church will gravitate to this style of music/ ministry, while on the other hand some won’t. But I do believe God is doing a new thing and also of different ways. God is not to be limited.
El: Tell us what influenced your beautiful single, ‘Bless This Land’?
D' Psalmist: (Smiles) I Love this Question. I was at home one day thinking of how many negativity that I saw was occurring happening here in Jamaica, actually brought tears to my eyes. Then the Lord laid upon my heart ‘There is Hope’, and then Glory to God I got the inspiration for this song, ‘Bless This Land’.
El: Got an album or albums yet?
D' Psalmist: Unfortunately no, but in the future with the Lords Help I hope to Acquire many.
El: What will you say is your uniqueness?
D' Psalmist: I am not just in a singing ministry, but I am also a Sunday school teacher. Cause I do believe in being equipped in doing many work and things for the Lord.
El: Wow! Awesome!!!
El: How would you describe your musical journey so far?
D' Psalmist: My musical journey is a blessing. I won’t complain, but there are days when it becomes rough and hard and feels like I’d want to give in. But when I think of where the lord has taken me from, and to where he’s going to take me, and also for the many souls that awaits to hear the word of God, and to also win them for his glory it allows me to continue. But overall a lot have been achieved over the past 5 years of this ministry, I will never be ungrateful.
El: What can you say are your challenges in the course of doing music?
D' Psalmist: Wow. It challenges where air play is concerned at times, shows as well is another area and promotional wise. But at times many young gospel ministers are not recognised maybe because of not having a big name or that big hit song.
El: Who do you take after? As in mentoring?
D' Psalmist: I Admire these Ministers, DJ Nicholas, Jermaine Edwards and Ryan Mark. Their music is awesome and I use it as a listening field to learn from.
El: What is your plan for the future?
D' Psalmist: To go higher in God as an individual to seek him more and allow his will be done in my life. On the other hand making more great music, Videos etc for the blessing of God’s people. Travelling the world, and doing the work that the lord as anointed me for.
El: Any message for the audience especially the upcoming?
D' Psalmist: Most definitely, believe in yourself, have faith and allow the Lord to lead at all times, pray earnestly and seek him for his directives. Because the time you allow self to take over, is the time when you will fail.
El: I appreciate the time D' Psalmist.
D' Psalmist: Your welcome, Thank you.
