S.O: I AM Same OG. Currently a Digital Marketer by Profession. I am a God Lover - A Christian precisely and like someone who always talks about their lover when they are in love, I really love to talk about God, but through music. Outside these, I'm just a lady who loves people and have a heart for souls.
El : Hnmmmm, how did you come about the name Same OG?
S.O: *smiles* i quite understand the inquisitiveness my name attracts- A "Female SAME OG".. For the records, I am not a gangster, trust me. My name is OG (OGhosa). The “SAME” is a result of the multi-faceted genre of the kind of music that I do. Perchance you haven't listened to any of my songs, well here it is - www.sameog.com/music. I love doing songs with deep message and rap sway lines, all of which reflects my Christian belief. I have had listeners asking questions like; Is that the same person who sang soulfully on the last track that is “dropping bars” now? Well, yes, it’s the SAME -- OG! *smiles*
El: Tell us how growing up was.
S.O. Hmmm... My life is a living proof and a testimony. It’s a long story, still I’m here, alive and well. I grew up in a pretty good family, till we lost it all, including my dad and mum. I have been helpless, homeless, a beggar in the streets of Lagos and much more.. So much more. I definitely don't look it, that what’s JESUS can do. I know you want to know more. Feel free to Read the FULL STORY here please - www.sameg.com/about
El: Wow! Touching indeed, at what stage did you meet Christ, how was and how has the experience been?
S.O: I was privileged to be born into a Christian family. So let’s say that is how I met him. I was just following the "status-quo" apparently, but I genuinely came to encounter God in my university days. The Experience is beyond words. I know for sure that I could have been long dead or even committed suicide as Life really threw me a very very big blow. You know, Losing my parents just like that and stooping from an affordable living into a beggarly condition? Hmm... Only God did help me and that's my experience.. A REAL-TIME PRACTICAL case. Not just theory. I owe HIM my life really! Serving God indeed pays! He has proven it over and again, that those that put their trust in Him will NEVER BE ASHAMED. I am indeed a mobile testimony, like some of my friends say. *smiles*
El: How did it all start musically?
S.O: I have always loved music.. right from childhood. Music to me is life. In my younger days, it was a tool that bred vices in me (I was a young angry kid, especially because of the songs I listened to. Yeah RAP! We all know how it sounded back in the days), but now as an adult, with a solid foot in the Faith, Gospel rap and songs are always a fortress. And since music could have such an impact on me, though negatively, I began to see the level of positive impact that music can be. That brooded immense passion in me and drove me into using music as a tool to bless men and please my God.
El: What Genre of gospel music do you do?
S.O: Well, I would say - "As the spirit leads" *smiles* ... Truth is, different songs drops in my spirit per time. Some through revelations, some in my place of prayers and some come as a message and soothes a particular genre. So, personally, as God leads me, I deliver it. I won’t want to limit the ability of God through me, to just a single type of music. No! So, if you hear me rap, if you hear me sing very slow, if you hear me do reggae or Afro-pop, whichever, just receive it and be blessed. * smiles*
El: What influences the messages in your songs?
S.O: The love of God and the love for souls. Also, my testimony does influence my message also. It’s all targeted at encouraging and blessing my listeners and drawing them closer to God.
El: Have you released any album yet?
S.O: Not yet. I am however working on a LP PROJECT (you can call it an album though). We are looking at 6-8 tracks by Gods grace, and its dropping this 2016. Keep your fingers crossed. *smiles*
El: Hnmmm!, We can’t wait ooo. Your singles “Carry me dey go” and “I believe” with Soul, are awesome, tell us about them.
S.O: We bless God for that. Those songs are from the depth of my soul. "Carry me dey go" dropped in my spirit, when I was doing a Nanny Job for a family here in Lagos. I did not know what else life had to throw at me. I had to do that menial job to just keep busy. The family, which by the way are great friends with me now, heard me always sing whenever I was with their child and gave me money to go to the studio. No wonder that song has been a blessing. It has blessed me and so many people can relate with it and have been blessed by it. For "I BELIEVE" -Like the title says, is a declaration of my strong Faith in God and also a testimony and encouragement to people to Keep Believing, as God does not ever fail. He is super faithful indeed. We just have to keep on believing no matter what!
El: What's unique about your music?

Same OG |
S.O: Well, should I be the one to judge that? *laughs* The GOSPEL of CHRIST is always unique and my own pattern of delivering it with different styles and genres, i think, even makes it somewhat more unique. You will get to know more about SAME OG, as per her music, when this LP is released though. Then we can answer this even more appropriately. I myself can’t even wait to share this project with everyone.
El: How can you describe your musical journey so far?
S.O: I am grateful to God for everything really... But as for description of the journey so far? Truth is, I have not even started!
El: What are the challenges you've encountered in the course of doing gospel music in Nigeria?
S.O: Challenges are everywhere. Not only in gospel music or only in Nigeria. I naturally disregard any kind of challenge. That’s by default meanwhile. I don't even know if such challenges exist, trust me. I do what I have to do... I am led by God, I pray about it, I stay on focus and we get it done, after which people are blessed. Maybe i am not the right person to recognize challenges and talk about them. *laughs*
El: Who do you look up to in the industry?
S.O: Hmmmm... "Look up to" .. That's some sensitive phrase there.. I mean even in the dictionary, this means - · esteem · worship · adore · revere". So, from that point, I am only answerable to God and i genuinely have such level of AWE for HIM alone. *smiles*. However, there are some great people in the Gospel Music Ministry that i love what they do. A countless number even. Still, "look up to" is not my choice sentence to reckon with what they do.
El: Which gospel artists do you look forward to working with?
S.O: I happen to really like some rap acts like - Jackie Hill Perry, Andy Mineo, Lacrae. Gamie, XL2LETTERS, A-Verse, Limoblaze, also I love Frank Edwards and his consistency, Nathaniel Bassey and i could go on and on, and if i can get to work with them all, why not? *smiles*
El: Where do you see yourself musically five years from now?
S.O: At the very top of God's plan for me and reaching global heights of impact... By Gods Grace.
El: Thank you Same OG for your time.
